On ne peut d'ailleurs s'empêcher d'espérer en le refermant qu'il sera le premier d'une longue série.Après plusieurs années de vaches maigres, la carrière du scénariste Adam Dunne semble enfin prendre une tournure prometteuse grâce à un contrat à Hollywood. Il a toujours été soutenu par sa compagne, Sarah, mais celle-ci ne revient pas d'un voyage professionnel à Barcelone et ne donne plus signe de vie. Inquiet et peu aidé par la police, pour qui une personne adulte a le droit de disparaître si elle le souhaite, Adam mène son enquête et réalise que la vie de Sarah n'est pas aussi transparente qu'il le pensait... Il s'aperçoit également que les circonstances de la disparition de Sarah font écho à d'autres mystérieuses disparitions de jeunes femmes, lesquelles n'ont jamais été retrouvées, et qu'il se passe des choses étranges à bord du bateau de croisières Celebrate...Ce récit -qui a un air de déjà-vu pour les amateurs de thrillers- est entrecoupé par les tragédies vécues par une famille française il y a de nombreuses années, alternance qui a le mérite d'assurer un suspense continu car ce n'est que peu à peu que les liens entre les deux affaires vont se révéler.Catherine Ryan Howard réussit à développer une intrigue parfaitement maîtrisée, riche en rebondissements et en mystères qui seront tous expliqués de manière parfaitement logique. Un excellent thriller qui sort du lot et que je vous recommande chaleureusement...
